seamless tube - ASTM B338 Grade 7 titanium alloy tube.
Grade 7 titanium is equivalent to CP 2 in mechanical and physical properties but with the addition of palladium. The addition of palladium enhances the crevice corrosion resistance of Grade 7, particularly at low temperatures and high pH values, making it the most corrosion-resistant among all titanium alloys.
There are two types of titanium tubes: extruded, known as seamless titanium tubes, and welded, known as welded titanium tubes. Extruded titanium tubes include cold-rolled tubes, rotary-swaged tubes, and drawn tubes. Most titanium extrusions are cold-worked blanks, but they also include some finished products such as hot-extruded tubes, profiled parts, profiles, and composites.
There are mainly two methods for producing titanium tube blanks: one is the drilling and extrusion process, which has high metal consumption and a complex overlay extrusion process, resulting in relatively higher costs but uniform tube wall thickness. The other method is the oblique rolling and perforation process, which has lower metal consumption but larger thickness tolerances for steel blanks. When the specifications are single and the quantity is large, using the oblique rolling and perforation method to produce titanium tube blanks can achieve better economic benefits."
